Palin’s Next Big Choice

As the resident Twitter correspondent it was recently brought to my attention that a trending topic was going around Twitter regarding Sarah Palin needing to change her Twitter name, since @AKGovSarahPalin just doesn’t seem to apply anymore. Ironically, I’m stepping down as Sarah Palin correspondent later this week (moving on to a higher calling), but I will do this one last time.

Tweet Me To The Moon

For those of you who think Twitter is nothing more then a political juggernaut that brings down tyrannical governments (I’m looking at you Iran) you’d be terribly mistaken. Occasionally people use Twitter to waste time. Seriously, people sometimes just dick around on Twitter.

A current game going around, started by satirist Andy Borowitz, challenges people to come up with better first words spoken on the moon. Here are the top ten responses…in my humble opinion:

I Got Your Twitter Right Here!

While the Western media was busy dropping the ball on its coverage of the Iranian uprising, Twitter brought us the news directly from the source.

What did the U.S. news outlets do when they finally got rolling? They posted the Twitter ID’s of actual students in Iran…so people could follow them — people like, say, THE IRANIAN GOVERNMENT! How retarded can you get? That’s like if, during World War II, the U.S. posted the names and addresses of the people in the French underground.

Twitter + Opportunism x Hyperbole = Daisy Cutter Bomb of Ridicule

In today’s world of info-bombardment, news travels fast, but snark breaks faster than the speed of light.
To wit, an observational, yet strangely conflating tweet Wednesday from Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-MI):
Iranian twitter activity similar to what we did in House last year when Republicans were shut down in the House.
The action Hoekstra referred to was the grandstanding efforts of a dozen Congressmembers as the House adjourned for its August recess last year. Boiled down to its essence, it was an extended tantrum of “Drill, baby, drill!” replete with pizzas supplied by …
